Streetsboro Church of Christ

The Streetsboro Church of Christ is hosting Vacation Bible School July 8 through July 11 at the building on 1386 Russell Drive. Meeting times are 5 p.m. on July 8 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. each weekday evening. The theme is "Can You Dig It," which will center around treasures of the heart. There will be classes for all ages (including adults) and all are welcome to attend.

St. Joan of Arc Parish

* No Mass or Communion will be offered July 4. Offices are closed for Independence Day.

* The Senior Ministry and Sr. Eileen Kernan are sponsoring a prayer walk and picnic July 9 , beginning at 11 a.m. The event will include a walking tour of the church grounds, including the Shrine to Mary, the Shrine of the Sacred Heart, the Family Stones and the Shrine to St. Francis. Lunch is brown bag, plus one item to share with others. For information, call 330-626-9599.

* Mass is regularly celebrated Monday through Friday at 8:30 a.m. with Communion offered each Tuesday. Saturday vigil begins at 5 p.m. Mass is offered Sunday at 8:30 and 11:30 a.m.

Frost Road Chapel

Weekly services: On Wednesdays, a midweek service is offered at 7 p.m., the same time that youth group meets. At 8 p.m. on Wednesdays the youth committee meets. On Sundays, Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m.; morning worship begins at 10:45 a.m.; choir practice takes place at 6 p.m.; and prayer meeting convenes at 7 p.m.

St. Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church

* Vacation Bible School will take place July 16-20 from 6 to 9 p.m. The theme this year is "Take the Plunge." Teachers and helpers are still needed. For more information or to sign up, call Marla Manijak at 330-626-5120.

* The church will celebrate its 45th anniversary July 21 at 4 p.m. There will be food, entertainment and fun.

* Church youth age 10 to 14 should attend a July 8 meeting at 10 a.m. The goal of the meeting will be to plan out activities for the remainder of the year.

* A "back-to-school" bonfire is set for Aug. 22 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. The bonfire is open to all children age 10 to 14.

* The property committee is seeking few good volunteers to help maintain the church. The next committee meeting is July 7 at 9 a.m.

* AA meetings take place on Mondays at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Thursdays at 10 a.m.

* Sunday's worship schedule is as follows: Early worship, 9 a.m.; Sunday School, 10 a.m.; and morning worship, 11 a.m. Holy Communion is offered each Sunday.

Streetsboro United Methodist Church

Worship at Streetsboro United Methodist Church is offered on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Also on Sundays are prayer at 9 a.m.; Sunday school at 9:15 a.m.; and youth group at 5 p.m.

* Summer Fun Sports Camp will be offered to children entering fourth- through seventh grade. Children will have the opportunity to meet new friends July 9 to 13, a week of games, instruction, fellowship and refreshments. The camp lasts from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Call 330-626-4393 to register.

First Baptist Church
of Streetsboro

* Adult Bible study and Sunday School begin at 10 a.m. on Sundays.

* Worship services take place 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays. Nursery school is provided during all services. The 11 a.m. service also features Toddler Church.

* An adult Bible study has begun a new series of discussions titled "A New Baptist Catechism," which concentrates on Baptist beliefs, where they come from and how they're supported by scripture.

* Prayer and Bible study groups meet Wednesday evenings, beginning at 7 p.m. Classes for all ages.

* The church is led by the Rev. Dr. Mel Grubaugh and is a fundamental, independent, King James, old-fashioned Baptist church, featuring conventional church services and non-contemporary music.

Faith Baptist Church
of Streetsboro

Sunday at 9:30 a.m. -- Sunday school starts for children and teens. Meeting at this time are also five adult Bible fellowship groups covering topics such as: "The Gospels," "Watercooler Topics," "The Joyful Life (Philippians)," "On the Road with Paul," and a ladies-only class studying "Living to Please God." All are invited to these opportunities.

Sunday at 10:45 a.m. -- This worship service features a blend of classic and modern hymns, as well as current worship songs accompanied by a full band and singers. The Rev. Don Workman is speaking about the various subjects Paul brings up in Second Corinthians. This sermon series is based on the Bible and applied to everyday life.

Sunday at 6 p.m. -- This hour includes something for all ages. A nursery is available for babies through 3-year-olds. Children age 4 through sixth grade may participate in the AWANA program which features age-appropriate activities and teachings. Teens meet separately for a time of games, food, and Bible discovery. Adults meet in the worship center for songs and a study from the Bible. All activities conclude by approximately 7:15 p.m. A Communion service usually takes place on the first Sunday evening of each month at this time.

Wednesday at 7 p.m. -- A midweek service of sharing, prayer, and a brief Bible study is available for all ages. Nursery service is offered for babies and young children, and teens meet with the adults to experience this time together.

The Chapel
at Tinkers Creek

* Cinematheology, the church's summer series on movies and theology will begin July 22 and continue for five weeks. The group will evaluate recent movies from a Christian perspective.

* Summer worship continues at 10:30 every Sunday at Streetsboro Middle School with education hour at 9 a.m. The Rev. Dave McClellan concludes the series in Ecclesiastes this week as we look at God's Timeless Wisdom for Everyday Life.

* The Chapel at Tinkers Creek is co-sponsoring Streetsboro Family Days celebration on July 29 and will provide wrist-bands for carnival rides to the first 200 kids to come to Family Days on Sunday.

First Baptist Church of Aurora

* Vacation Bible school will be July 22 to 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. Parents can sign up their children by visiting www.fbcaurora.org. "Game Day Central," the VBS theme, will focus on exploring heroes from the Bible.

New member phone directories are available on the Hunt table in the Great Hall. Anyone who picked up a directory in February just need to pick up a new member sheet now.

Sixty-eight children led by 18 adults and 12 teens gathered by the Sea of Galilee to "Catch Jesus in Action" during vacation Bible school. A special thanks goes to the Messner and Braun families for loaning handcrafted boats as props.

Members are asked that while vacationing this summer to collect hotel toiletries for donation to charitable organizations supported by the church. The items can be dropped off in the church office.

Valley Presbyterian in Aurora

The church has a new organist -- Jeanette Davis Ostrander, a resident of Auburn Township. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance from Cleveland Institute of Music.

She originally is from LeRaysville, Pa. In 1990, she received the Van Cliburn Award from the Guild of National Piano Playing Auditions, and has been on the faculty at the Cleveland Institute of Music since 1991.

Volunteers are needed to manage Sunday fellowship hour set-ups during July and August. A signup sheet is in the narthex.

The church will celebrate its 50th anniversary Sept. 8 and 9 (the latter is Rally Day).
