At the recent PTA meeting, we voted to be "FOR" or "Against" the levy. Everyone attending the meeting voted yes except for 3 people. My question is why did you bother to come to the meeting? If you could afford $5 to join the PTA don't you think you could afford $5-$10 for the passage of the levy. If you happen to own a home over $300k I do not think that passage of the levy will drain your checkbook. I find that the 3 people that voted "no" at this meeting have a problem. The problem is that they are not smart.
I think that the person who spent hundreds of dollars for anti-levy signs, etc. befor the last vote was foolish. Why did he just not give $10 to the old people who can not supposedly afford the levy.
I must say that the people of Streetsboro must vote yes for this levy. It does not matter who, how and where the money is going to. IT IS going for the CHILDREN and that is what matters most. I am not rich, but I can afford it if it will make the children have better things and passage will make my home value rise. I am sick of the retiree's crying about a fixed income. Get your information, most of the retiree's will not have to pay the extra few dollars with the programs they have out there. To the younger parents with children. Stop being lazy and vote! Both parents need to vote. The polls are open for at least 12 hours and most people do not work 12 hours, if you do then it is understandable. I Urge all the parents of children in the school to each vote "YES" because if we do this, then we can once and for all shut-up the elders. I understand that time is scarce these days, but please get up a few minutes early in Novemeber, or see if you can leave work a few minutes early.
It is the elder people of the community that have more time than they know what to do with who organize this B.S. and go vote no because they have nothing better to do than complain.
We parents must make a statement NOW and we must take over our community before the elder people ruin it. It is so terrible that every surrounding community - Aurora, Hudson, etc. have beautiful school systems and mighty Streetsboro is in the middle falling apart while it is trying to grow. Parents - MAKE A STATEMENT!
