Enroll in the ABLE Program at Maplewood

December 4, 2007

The New Year is upon us once again and it's almost time to welcome 2008. It's time for change and New Year's resolutions to be made. If you or someone you know is interested in making a difference in their life then now is the time. The Portage County Literacy Coalition is here to encourage Portage County adults during the upcoming New Year in furthering their education and skills.

The Adult Basic Literacy Program (ABLE) at Maplewood Career Center is currently enrolling adults. If you or someone you know wants to obtain a G.E.D.; improve or refresh reading, math, English or even work on job skills; which includes job readiness and computer skills then now is the time. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at the Maplewood Career Center in Ravenna. We also have the Family Works at Even Start Program, which is held during the week. This program is for families with children from birth to eight years old and helps parents become full partners in the education of their children and assists children in reaching their full potential as learners. Even start even helps parents find daycare so they can attend class. The courses that are held at Maplewood Career Center and Even Start are free and open to all Portage County Adults.

In 2008, the Portage County Literacy Coalition will continue to serve Portage County adults with "Lifelong Learning." It's never too late to continue your education and make a better future for yourself. If you are a Portage County adult that wants to complete your education or excel in your career abilities, then find out more information on how you can continue your education at the Adult Basic and Literacy Education (ABLE) program at the Maplewood Career Center or at Even Start by calling 330-296-2892, ext. 203 or 197.
