Streetsboro -- Two Northfield juveniles found in Streetsboro after allegedly stealing $18 worth of scrap metal from a Twinsburg business were charged with theft and trespassing.
According to a Twinsburg police report, two 17-year-old juveniles had been seen leaving a Dutton Drive business in the afternoon on May 1 with $18 worth of scrap metal discovered missing from the business.
Streetsboro Police said the vehicle the juveniles had been driving was reported seen in the parking lot of a Route 14 hotel. According to the Streetsboro Police report, officers found the juveniles in a hotel room, and the scrap metal was found in their vehicle.
Police said the juveniles were turned over to Twinsburg Police officers at the Streetsboro Police Station, and both were charged with theft and trespassing. The scrap metal was undamaged and returned to the Twinsburg business.
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
May 3. Motorist charged with OVI: An officer pulled over a driver on Route 14 after he allegedly committed several marked lane violations in the evening.
The officer also reported detecting signs of intoxication from the driver, according to the police report.
According to the report, the driver failed a field sobriety test and was later found to have a blood-alcohol level of .104. Police said the driver was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and marked lane violations.
The driver was later released to his wife at the police station, according to the report.
Assault
April 25. Man charged with assault: Officers responded to a report of a fight at a Market Square Drive restaurant after 2 a.m.
According to the report, a customer at the restaurant admitted both to arguing with an employee and punching that employee in the face, according to the police report.
Police said the employee did not need medical attention. The customer was charged with assault and released at the scene, according to the report.
Criminal damage
April 20. Burned items found in yard: A Diagonal Road resident reported finding a pile of burned debris in her flower beds after being out of town for three days.
According to the report, the debris included sticks, newspaper and a soda can. The fire had appeared to burn itself out. The resident said she did not know who caused the fire and there was no apparent damage to the house.
Police told the resident to call if she sees someone she doesn't know on her property.
