Northeast Ohio Girls Wrestling Club President and head coach Dean Olson recently signed a contract awarding Crestwood High School as the location for the Ohio State Girls Wrestling Tournament.
This decision, made by the United States Girls Wrestling Association, will bring competitors from all over Ohio to compete annually at Crestwood schools, with the 2010 tournament scheduled to take place March 13. Olson has been very instrumental in bringing this tournament to Mantua. His involvement during the past eight years at the local, state and national level has brought together the largest and most successful girls wrestling club in Ohio.
This group has many state and national champions, including the second-place finish at the National Girls Wrestling Tournament in 2009.
Girls wrestling is a growing sport, with girls competing locally at the state level and nationally.
The program has expanded to allow girls to compete in multiple states for the opportunity to be multi-state champions.
