Kent's Haymaker Farmers' Market will be holding two special indoor holiday markets on Saturday December 6 and 13th from 9:00 am-2:00 pm. The market will be located in the large garage attached to the law offices of Williams, Welser and Kratcoski LLC at 11 South River Street in downtown Kent. The law firm is generously providing the venue for these two events. Customer parking is conveniently located in the lot adjacent to the market on River Street. The December 6th market is coordinated with the downtown Festival of Lights and the Kent Art Walk, both sponsored by Standing Rock Cultural Arts and the Kent Area Chamber of Commerce.

One of the longest running farmers' markets in the Northeast Ohio area, Haymaker has become a traditional place where the community and local farmers can meet each other over fresh produce, healthy food, and a casual atmosphere. These two indoor events will showcase locally grown winter hardy produce, cheeses, baked goods, home made pastas and noodles, authentic German Christmas stollen, locally roasted coffees, dried flowers, herbs, handmade soaps and all manner of locally crafted gift ideas.

Continuing this summer's Music @ the Market series, Haymaker will be sponsoring live performances from Kent's diverse music community. Saturday, December 6 at 10:00 am " 12:00 pm, Ming-yen Lee will play the erhu, gaohu, and zhonghu, which are all types of Chinese fiddle. Local folk guitarist Jon Mosey will be on hand from 12:00-2:00 pm. Jon is a compelling performer who presents a truly unique blend of original music and is equally at home playing pre-war country Blues styles, Ragtime, Western Swing, old-time string band music, Bluegrass, Cajun or a variety of other traditional American styles.

The market on Saturday, December 13th will host a performance of acoustic folk guitarist Andrea Bussinger from 10:00 am " 12:00 noon. A native of Kent, Ms. Bussinger plays acoustic original and traditional songs from the gut, the heart, and the spirit. The Celtic Clan of Kent will be performing traditional Celtic and Gaelic music from noon " 2:00 pm.

"I've been a Haymaker customer since 1998, and this will be our second year as a vendor and am really excited about the upcoming holiday markets. This is something Kent can be proud of, and it's always a lot of fun." Said Cary James, owner of Stahl's Bakery.

Market founder & manager Fritz Seefeldt said: "I've watched as our market has grown from 4 farmers back in 1992 to 32 this past summer. The Kent community has always been very loyal to the farmers' market and we appreciate their support. The addition of these two indoor holiday markets represents the culmination of an extremely successful 2008 season. The market has become a place to meet your neighbors and catch up on what's happening in Kent. With growing concern for small family farms and support for homegrown businesses, shopping farmers' markets has allowed people to make a positive impact on their local economy, environment, and their family's well being. "

These two special holiday markets will run on December 6 and 13th only from 9 am- 2 pm. Contact Fritz Seefeldt at 330-678-5748 or email at kentmarket@neo.rr.com for further information.
