The host Streetsboro girls basketball dropped to 6-9 on the season after losing a 46-33 decision to Mogadore Field Jan. 30.

The Rockets had an 8-6 lead heading into the second quarter, but Field (9-6) went on a 16-5 spurt in the second period to take a 22-13 lead at halftime. Field continued to play stellar defense as it held Streetsboro to five points in the third quarter.

As a result, Field had a commanding 36-18 lead heading into the final eight minutes.

The Rockets came to life in the fourth quarter with a 15-10 scoring spurt, but it proved to be too little, too late against Field.

Arielle Kenyon led Field with a game-high 13 points.

Jaclynn Hess had seven points to pace Streetsboro and Jennifer Langford added six points.

Field also scored a 40-36 win in the junior varsity contest. Aleeyah Norvell led the Rockets with 15 points.

The varsity team is scheduled to visit Atwater for a Portage Trail Conference County Division showdown with Waterloo Feb. 3.

Streetsboro is set to visit Tallmadge Feb. 8. Both varsity contests are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
