The Streetsboro boys basketball team rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit with a big second half to earn a 57-42 victory over James A. Garfield in a Portage Trail Conference County Division contest Jan. 26.

The Rockets (8-4, 6-3) raced out to a 17-10 lead after one quarter, but turned ice cold in the second period, scoring just one point to fall behind 27-18 at intermission.

But whatever adjustment Streetsboro head coach Todd Muckleroy made at halftime seemed to work as the Rockets defense held the G-Men (0-12, 0-8) to just 15 points over the final two quarters.

Streetsboro outscored Garfield 20-8 in the third quarter and 19-7 in the final eight minutes to put the game out of reach.

The Rockets were led by Leon Hedgepeth with 16 points.

Asante Banks added 14 points and nine rebounds and Mike Zitkewicz had 12 points.

Teddy Christopher had nine points to pace Garfield.

Streetsboro also scored a 60-43 victory over Garfield in the junior varsity contest. John Saucier led the Rockets with 16 points.
