Edward E. Sexton

Edward E. Sexton, 81, of Streetsboro, died Aug. 10, 2013, at Robinson Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 16, 1932 in Cunard, W.Va., to the late Edward Vincent and Nellie Martha (Chapman) Sexton.
Mr. Sexton served in the U.S. Army for 16 years, eight years enlisted and eight years as an officer. He saw combat in Korea and in Vietnam. His highest rank was captain.
He worked as an electrician out of IBEW Local 71 in Columbus for many years. He last worked as an electrician at Geauga Lake in Aurora where he retired in February 1995.
Mr. Sexton was a member of Streetsboro Church of God (now Encounter Church) where he served as an usher, then head usher. He also served on the pastor's council and on the finance committee. He was active in the men's ministry and used his work skills to contribute to the upkeep of the church building. Recently, he attended and was a member of Discover Life Church in Akron. He was also a member of the Streetsboro American Legion and VFW.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Sexton, and his sister-in-law, Peggy Sexton.
He is survived by wife Phyllis Jean (Harris) Sexton, whom he married in 1954; daughter Shannon (Ronald) Estes of Streetsboro; sons Terry (Cindy) Sexton of Mantua, Dale (Melissa) Sexton of Albany, Ind., Dana Sexton (Tammy Kent fiance) of New Hampshire and Trevor (Susan) Sexton of Howell, Mich.; sisters Janet (Miles) Davis of Cuyahoga Falls, Jean (John) McClung of Hudson, Brenda (Ernie) McGee of Hudson and Martha (Larry) Sarver of Nevada; brothers Donald (Lynn) Sexton of Strongsville, Jack Sexton of Rootstown, Randy Sexton of Cuyahoga Falls and Gary (Jeanne) Sexton of Mogadore; grandchildren Heather (Theo) Cebulla, Amy (Matt) Case, Angela (Matt) Ritchey, Samuel (Meggie) Sexton, Samantha Bounds, Kathryn Sexton, Jacob Sexton, Drew Sexton, Kiera Sexton, Savanna Estes and Elijah Estes; great-grandchildren Mason, Hallie, Kelsey, Brady, Tyler, Dylan, Jaxon, Darius and Kendra; and best friend and caregiver Jim Kuchta of Streetsboro.
A funeral service was Aug. 17 at the Encounter Church (formerly Streetsboro Church of God) in Streetsboro with the Rev. Ronald Estes Jr. and the Rev. John McClung Jr. officiating. Interment was in Grandview Memorial Park in Ravenna.
