John F. Kovach

World War II veteran

John F. Kovach, 86, of Ravenna, formerly of Cleveland, died May 26, 2014.

He was born Aug. 7, 1927 in Cleveland to Anthony and Helen (Buzir) Kovach.

Mr. Kovach served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He worked as a welder for Johns Trailers Inc. and in the warehouse at Fazio's in Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, four brothers and stepdaughter Victoria Hicks.

He is survived by son John (Twila Christine) Kovach of Houston; daughter Karen (Edward) Kovach-Sturn of Lilburn, Ga.; grandsons Jason and Jeremy; brother Lou Kovach of Willowick; fiancé Nancy Large of Ravenna; former wife Rose M. Kovach; stepdaughters Debra Inge and Lori Bednar; stepsons Del and Ronald Large; nine step-grandchildren; and 22 step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was May 31 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Bob Lanterman officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Township. Memorials can be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the American Cancer Society.
