Carl E. Fischer

U.S. Army veteran

Carl E. Fischer, 76, of Streetsboro, died June 17, 2014, at University Hospital in Twinsburg.

He was born Sept. 29, 1937 in Jefferson, Pa., to Henry W. and Vernice Mae (Litten) Fischer.

Mr. Fischer was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1958 to 1964, serving in the United States and Germany. He worked as a supervisor for East Ohio Gas Co. until he retired in 1995.

Mr. Fischer liked to coach Little League baseball, spend time at his camp in Pennsylvania, and hunt and fish with his children and grandchildren. He belonged to Venture Church in Streetsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Henry W. Fischer.

He is survived by wife Estella L. (Shawley) Fischer, whom he married Nov. 15, 1959; children Carl E. (Sandy) Fischer Jr. of Streetsboro, Heidi (Larry) Black of Munroe Falls and Keith (June) Fischer of Diamond; grandchildren Jason, Jacob (Becky), Kristi, Josh, Ashley, Bryon, Karla, Ian, Luke, Abaigeal, Aidan and Sophia, brothers Robert (Betty) Fischer of Punxsutawney, Pa., and Thomas Fischer of Thomasville, Pa., and sister-in-law Barbara Fischer of Waynesburg, Pa.

A memorial service was June 21 at Venture Church in Streetsboro with the Rev. Chris Kuzma officiating. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Venture Church, 935 Frost Road, Streetsboro 44241, in Mr. Fischer's name. Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
