Starting in June, the Community Job Club Inc. will move its meetings to the Record Publishing Co. headquarters at 1050 W. Main St. in Kent.
The Community Job Club Inc. is a non-profit 501(c) 3 tax-exempt job search training organization, founded in April 2010. Previously, it had been meeting in Stow at the Stratford Place office building.
Since May 2012, RPC and the Community Job Club have partnered to organize several job fairs in Northeast Ohio.
Executive Director Diana Miller says she is excited about the move.
"We appreciate that the Record Publishing Co. will be hosting our monthly meetings and job seekers. This is a wonderful next step for our club that strengthens the relationship between our organizations," she said. "Together, we will help both the unemployed and under-employed as well as local employers."
Along with the new location, meeting dates and formats will also be changing. Starting with the June 11 meeting, subsequent workshops will take place on the second Wednesday of each month, from 3 to 5 p.m., with new member orientation beginning at 2:15 p.m.
Online-only meetings will be scheduled for the fourth Thursday of each month, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.; new member orientation will be at 6:30 p.m. These free workshops will continue to address a range of job search topics such as resume development, cover letter writing, effective networking, interview preparation, salary negotiation and many other related subjects.
"I'm delighted that the Community Job Club will now be holding monthly meetings in our beautiful facility in Kent. We have worked with the Community Job Club for the last three years to produce successful job fairs aimed at getting those in Summit and Portage counties back to work," said Nancy Whitehead, classified advertising director for Dix Communications. "Now, by hosting the club's monthly meetings, we provide a much-needed space for job seekers to gather and learn helpful techniques to use in their employment hunt and to find the 'best local jobs for the best local candidates' on our website, www.ohiojobsfinder.com."
The Community Job Club Inc. offers workshops, networking opportunities, support and other free or low cost resources for experienced professionals, new graduates, veterans and others in the greater Summit County area who are actively seeking better career opportunities.
