University of Cinci announces dean's list

Brenna Alonso and Brittany Ross, both Streetsboro, both earned dean's list honors at the University of Cincinnati for the fall semester.

Hiram honors two residents

Chelsey Carpenter and Venessa Holcomb, both of Streetsboro, were named to the dean's list at Hiram College during the fall semester.

To be eligible for dean's list honors, students must complete 12 or more credit hours and achieve a grade-point average of at least 3.6.

Geneva College dean's list released

John Fisher and Stephen Lawrence, both of Streetsboro, earned dean's list honors for the fall term at Geneva College.

To be eligible for this recognition, students must earn a GPA of at least 3.6 while passing 12 credit hours or more.

Swiger graduates

Rachel Swiger, of Streetsboro, recently graduated from Wright State University.

Protivnak joins

honor society

The honor society of Phi Kappa Phi recently announced that Jake Protivnak, of Streetsboro, has been initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Protivnak was initiated at Youngstown State University.

Protivnak is among approximately 32,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter.

Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible for membership.

Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
