Rockets finish second
The Streetsboro Junior Rockets Junior Varsity Blue football team was the runner-up in the Portage Trail Youth Football League after losing a 7-6 decision to Newton Falls in the championship game Oct. 21 at Kent State University’s Dix Stadium.
The Rockets reached the title game with a 26-0 victory over the Rootstown Rovers. Prior to the championship game, the Rockets had outscored their first seven opponents 201-0.
The Rockets also were the runners-up at the state tournament in Sandusky. They lost to Olentangy in the championship game after earning wins over LaGrange Keystone and Van Wert.

Hoops scheduled
The Streetsboro basketball program is scheduled to host its annual alumni basketball game Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.

Saucier named MVP
Streetsboro resident Johnathan Saucier was named the Western Reserve Academy football team’s Most Valuable Player at the school’s awards banquet earlier this month.
