The Streetsboro boys basketball team lost a heartbreaking 49-47 decision to Kenston (Chagrin Falls) Dec. 29 in the consolation game of the Hudson Holiday Tournament.
Medina won the tournament with a 63-62 overtime victory over Hudson.
Bernie Porter's baseline jumper with one second sealed the deal for the Bombers. Peter Rozman led Kenston with 14 points and Jack Quigley added 12 points for the Bombers.
Devin Rencher led the Rockets (3-5) with a game-high 20 points. Jordan Matusik added 16 points for Streetsboro. Kenston had a 40-31 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the host Streetsboro girls basketball team fell to 2-8 on the season after losing a 66-53 decision to Chardon Dec. 29.
The game was tied at 31 at halftime, but the Hilltoppers (7-2) pulled away by outscoring the Rockets 23-11 in the third quarter.
Kahrin Spear and Lindsey Lyons each scored a game-high 21 points for Chardon, which made 20-of-32 foul shots.
Marra Woods led Streetsboro with 14 points and Shannon Blondeaux and Alison Targosky each had eight points for the Rockets.
Streetsboro earned a 36-33 win in the junior varsity game. Brooke Bolyard led the Rockets with 11 points.
