Streetsboro boys hoops team falls on the road; girls lose to Norton

The Streetsboro boys basketball team fell to 4-6 overall after losing a 68-65 decision to Youngstown East Jan. 5 in Youngstown.

Deontay Scott led Youngstown East (9-1) with 22 points, 16 rebounds and four steals and Taylor Johnson had 18 points and five steals. Terrell McClain added 17 points for Youngstown East.

Jordan Matusik led the Rockets with 27 points and Devin Rencher added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Streetsboro also lost a 57-46 decision to Youngstown East in the junior varsity contest.

Meanwhile, the host Streetsboro girls basketball team fell to 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the Portage Trail Conference Metro Division after losing a 62-56 decision to Norton Jan. 5.

Norton outscored the Rockets 32-23 in the middle two quarters. Shania Williams and Megan Densmore led Streetsboro with 12 points apiece and Shannon Blondeaux added 10 points for the Rockets. Cara Cook led Norton with a game-high 36 points.
