Streetsboro boys basketball team beats Crestwood

The Streetsboro boys basketball team improved to 6-6 overall and 5-2 in the Portage Trail Conference Metro Division after posting a 63-54 victory over Crestwood Jan. 11 in Mantua.

The Rockets outscored the Red Devils 30-17 in the middle two quarters. Jordan Matusik led Streetsboro with a game-high 25 points and Paul Jenkins added 14 points. Matusik tied a school record with eight three-pointers.

Jacob Graves and Trevor Sweet led Crestwood with 18 and 16 points, respectively.

The Rockets rolled to a 66-19 win in the junior varsity contest. Reggie Dublin led Streetsboro with 17 points.

BOWLERS FALL TO SPRINGFIELD

The Streetsboro boys and girls bowling teams lost to Portage Trail Conference Metro Division rival Springfield Jan. 11 at Kent Lanes.

The boys lost a 2,264-1,798 decision and the girls suffered a 2,123-1,446 setback.

Tyler Fleming led the boys team with scores of 150 and 165, respectively. D.J. James (133-148) and Nick Marlin (140-125) also fared well for the Rockets.

Jessica Roch had the high series for the girls team (263; 108-155). Becca Fleming (86-171) was next for Streetsboro.
