Scores: Streetsboro boys basketball team rolls past Kent Roosevelt

The Streetsboro boys basketball team improved to 9-6 on the season and 8-2 in the Portage Trail Conference Metro Division after posting a 52-37 victory over Kent Roosevelt Jan. 29 on the road.

The Rockets outscored the Rough Riders 19-7 in the first quarter and 14-7 in the final eight minutes. Jordan Matusik led Streetsboro with 13 points and teammate Devin Rencher added 13 points.

Joseph Watts led Kent, which scored a 47-42 win in the junior varsity contest, with 13 points.

BOWLERS FALL TO CRESTWOOD

The Streetsboro bowling teams fell to Portage Trail Conference Metro Division rival Crestwood Jan. 29 at Sky Lanes in Garrettsville.

The boys lost a 2,346-1,735 decision and the girls lost a 1,929-1,443 decision.

D.J. James led the Rockets’ boys (0-15, 0-9) with scores of 159-144, respectively. Also faring well for Streetsboro were Tyler Fleming (170-129) and Casey Brace (119-170).

The Rockets’ girls (0-15, 0-9) were led by Becca Fleming (118-135) and Sarah Yonish (120-115).
