The Streetsboro wrestling team was a part of history Jan. 23 when the Rockets participated in the first annual state wrestling team tournament.
Unfortunately for the Rockets, their participation turned out to be a case of "one and done."
Streetsboro lost a 41-32 decision to Akron Archbishop Hoban 41-32 Jan. 23 at Howland High School in Warren
The Rockets finished the season with a dual-meet record of 3-6.
Streetsboro won seven of 13 matches against the Knights (there was a double forfeit at 170 pounds).
The Rockets got a pin from 152-pounder Kyle Woods in 55 seconds over Hoban's Ben Roher. At 126 pounds.
aron Dantimo scored an 18-2 technical fall over Joseph McGough, while 138-pounder Justin Baratko scored a 9-5 win over the Knights' Dayvon Milbry.
The rest of Streetsboro wins came via forfeit as 113-pounder Sean Kuklisin, 182-pounder Pat Adkins and heavyweight Sam Creque all won in walkovers.
However, the Rockets gave two of those forfeits back at 160 and 195 pounds.
Also, Streetsboro lost the rest of its matches by pin or forfeit and the bonus points gave Hoban the victory.
Hoban lost to top-seed Warren Howland 56-23 Jan. 23.
The Rockets are scheduled to participate in the Portage Trail Conference Tournament Feb. 1 and 2 at Rootstown. First match Feb. 1 is set for 5:30 p.m. It is scheduled to resume Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.
