Streetsboro senior linebacker Brandon Gency signed Feb. 6 to continue his academic and football careers at Ashland University.

Last year, Gency helped the Rockets reach the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. He recently was named to the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association North/South All Star Game.

Gency finished with 85 tackles, including 12 for a loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one defensive touchdown in 2012.

He received special mention to the All-Ohio team and was a first All-Northeast Inland District choice last year. Gency was a first-team All-Portage Trail Conference Metro Division pick in 2012.

Rockets win title

The Streetsboro fourth-grade boys travel basketball team won its division of the Garfield Heights basketball tournament, which concluded Feb. 10.
