Scores: Norton beats Streetsboro boys basketball team to win Metro Division title

The Streetsboro boys basketball team will not win the Portage Trail Conference Metro Division title this season.

The Rockets fell to 11-9 overall and 10-3 in the Metro Division after losing a 56-46 decision to Norton Feb. 15 on the road.

With the win, the Panthers (18-3, 12-1) wrapped up the Metro Division title.

Norton outscored Streetsboro 22-7 in the second quarter to take a 29-18 lead. The Panthers' advantage increased to 14 (43-29) heading into the final eight minutes.

Devin Rencher led the Rockets with 15 points and Paul Jenkins added 10 points for Streetsboro, which earned a 55-39 win in the junior varsity contest.

FOUR WRESTLERS REACH SEMIFINALS

The Streetsboro wrestling team is in a tie for sixth place with Walsh Jesuit after the first day of a Division II sectional wrestling tournament Feb. 15 at Walsh Jesuit High School.

Both teams scored 38 points.

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy is leading the way with 84 points and Woodridge is in second place with 68.5 points. The tournament is scheduled to resume Feb. 16.

The following Rockets reached the semifinals: Sean Kuklisin (106 pounds), Aaron Dantimo (120), Kyle Woods (152) and Sam Creque (heavyweight).
