Golfers settle for split at tri-meet in Kent
The host Streetsboro golf team finished 1-1 at a three-team meet Aug. 21 at Raccoon Hill Golf Club in Kent.
The Rockets finished with a score of 173. Cleveland Benedictine shot a 176. Western Reserve Academy beat both teams with a 166.
WRA's Barnabas Wang shot a 36 to earn medalist honors. Philip Lago led Streetsboro (3-8) with a 39. Also contributing to the Rockets' team score were Cody Johnson (42), Ty Butler (43) and Evan Meisinger (49).
Host Streetsboro improved to 2-3 in the Portage Trail Conference County Division after posting a 182-184 victory over Southeast Aug. 19.
The match took place at Raccoon Hill Golf Course.
Lago shot a 40 to lead the Rockets. He shared medalist honors with Southeast's Cody Tuttle.
Also contributing for Streetsboro were Johnson (41), Butler (50) and Meisinger (51).
The Rockets are scheduled to visit County Division rival James A. Garfield Aug. 28 at Sugar Bush Golf Course in Garrettsville before returning home to play County Division foe Waterloo Aug. 29.
They are set to visit Ravenna Sept. 3 at Windmill Lakes Golf Course.
Play is set to begin at 3:45 p.m. for all three matches.
'Fall Fun Days with Friends' coming soon
For the second season, the Northern Ohio PGA Fall Tour is giving junior golfers (ages 8 to 19 not competing on school golf teams) the opportunity to play area courses and keep their game in top shape through the fall season.
The 2013 Fall Fun Days with Friends consists of three events at premier venues across Northern Ohio.
The fall tour is scheduled to kick off Sept. 7 at Medina Country Club.
The series then moves east Sept. 14 to Gleneagles Golf Course. The final event is set to take place at Lake Forest Country Club Oct. 5.
The cost for nine holes is $25 and the cost for 18 holes is $45.
All of the fall tour events include greens fees, giveaways and prizes.
