Streetsboro girls basketball team holds off Rootstown


The Streetsboro girls basketball team made a stellar Portage Trail Conference County Division debut Dec. 4 on the road.

The Rockets improved to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in the division after posting a 56-51 victory over Rootstown. Streetsboro had a 41-26 lead after three quarters and was up 29-16 at halftime.

The Rockets had three players reach double digits in scoring. Alison Targosky led Streetsboro with 18 points. She shared game-high honors with Casey Miracle of the Lady Rovers. Marra Woods and Shania Williams contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Rockets.

Streetsboro had a 52-29 edge on the glass and finished with just 12 turnovers. The Rockets also earned a 22-19 win in the junior varsity contest. Justina McDonald led Streetsboro with eight points.
