Bowlers compete at conference tourney

The Streetsboro boys bowlers placed third out of four teams with a score of 3,071 at the Portage Trail Conference County Division Tournament Feb. 1 at Bill White's Akron Lanes.

James A. Garfield won the competition with a score of 3,944 and Woodridge placed second (3,560).

Tyler Fleming led the Rockets with scores of 228, 214 and 162, respectively. Casey Brace was next with scores of 163, 129 and 186.

The girls placed fourth with a score of 3,604. Garfield won with a 3,656 and Woodridge (2,954) and Southeast (2,934) finished second and third.

Becca Fleming (182, 154 and 119) led Streetsboro and Alexa Brace (159, 167 and 111) was next for the Rockets.

The host Streetsboro boys improved to 2-9 overall and 2-3 in the Portage Trail Conference County Division after posting a 2,380-2,329 victory over Woodridge Jan. 29 at Kent Lanes.

Tyler Fleming led all bowlers with scores of 242 and 232.

Also faring well for the Rockets were Donovan Booker (201 and 156), Casey Brace (191 and 164), Mike Calvert (166 and 164) and DJ James (150 and 142).

The Streetsboro girls fell to 2-10 overall and 2-4 in the County Division after losing an 1,800-1,698 decision to Woodridge.

Becca Fleming led the way with scores of 134 and 170. Alexa Brace was next for the Rockets with scores of 140 and 149.

Run/walk scheduled

The Kelly's Grief Center fourth annual 5K run/1-mile walk is scheduled for May 4 at Roses Run Country Club, which is loacted at 2636 N. River Road in Stow).
