Southeast sweeps Streetsboro softball team

The host Streetsboro softball team fell to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the Portage Trail Conference County Division after losing a doubleheader to Southeast April 18.

The Rockets lost 7-4 and 17-7 decisions to the Pirates.

In the 7-4 loss, Southeast scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 7-0 lead.

The Pirates finished with nine hits and three errors. Streetsboro had four hits and zero errors.

Alicia Swierz (4-0) got the win on the mound. Makenzie Dombrowski (1-5) took the loss.

Corrine Braynard led the Rockets with two singles, a run scored and a run batted in. Jenna Oravec had two singles and an RBI.

In the 17-7 loss, Southeast scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to invoke the 10-run mercy rule.

Streetsboro finished with nine hits and one error. Swierz got the win and Dombrowski took the loss.

Oravec finished with two singles and two runs scored and Dombrowski had two singles and a run scored.

Alicia Garrett added two singles and an RBI and Sarah Varner finished with three RBIs.
