Streetsboro boys track places second at conference meet

The Streetsboro boys track and field team placed second with 140 points at the Portage Trail Conference County Division Meet, which concluded May 16 at Ravenna Stadium.

Woodridge won the seven-team competition with 140 points and James A. Garfield finished third with 78 points.

The 800-meter relay team of Myron Jones, Dakari Carter, Prince Franklin and Daniel Sapp set a meet record with a first-place time of 1 minute, 29.82 seconds.

The 400 relay team also set a meet record. That team of Victor Glass, Jones, Franklin and Carter ran a first-place time of 43.83 seconds.

Carter also won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.11 seconds and the 400 (51.02).

Sapp added a victory in the 200 (23.02).

Other Rockets who placed in the top eight are as follows:

• 3,200 relay: Tyler Garman, Alec Bindus, Jake Suttell and Malik Todd, fourth, 8:45.76

• 110 hurdles: Paul Jenkins, third, 16.63; and Jonte Florence, fifth, 16.86

• 100: Prince Franklin, second, 11.47

• 1,600: Garman, fourth, 4:46.32; and Bindus, eighth, 5:06.28

• 400: Sapp, second, 51.37

• 300 hurdles: Glass, third, 43.16; and Jenkins, fourth, 44.16

• 800: Garman, seventh, 2:10.83; and Todd, eighth, 2:11.75

• 200: Franklin, second, 23.12

• 3,200: Jake Gould, sixth, 10:56.65

• 1,600 relay: Jones, Todd, Glass and Sapp, fourth, 3:36.62

• Discus: Thomas Benson, fourth, 130 feet, 9 inches; and Nick Fazio, seventh, 129-5

• High jump: Dublin, sixth, 5-8; and Jenkins, eighth, 5-6

• Long jump: Glass, 17-8.5; and Dublin, seventh, 17-4

• Shot put: Fazio, third, 50-1
