The seventh-seeded Streetsboro softball team lost a 9-3 decision to third-seeded Field in an Akron South Division II sectional semifinal contest May 16 in Mogadore.

Going right back into regular-season play a day later, the host Rockets lost an 11-1 decision to Portage Trail Conference County Division rival James A. Garfield May 17.

The game was called after six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Offense was a struggle in the sectional loss at Field, which was led by freshman pitcher Hunter Silveus, who fired a five-hitter.

Makenzie Dombrowski, a junior, gave up nine hits

A five-run second inning by the Falcons (16-2) blew up a scoreless game.

Streetsboro fired back with three runs in the top of the third to slice the lead to 5-3, but Field scored in each of the next three innings.

The Rockets never got to Silveus again.

The Falcons were led by a pair of sophomores in Riley Coleman (two singles, a run, and one run batted in) and Allison Robinson (double, a run and one RBI).

Streetsboro (3-13, 0-10) committed six errors against the G-Men.

Garfield (15-1, 10-1) scored two runs in the first, six runs in the second, followed by two more in the third.

Freshman pitcher Lauren Jones had the Rockets reeling as she tossed a four-hitter and struck out nine batters.

One of those Streetsboro seniors, Kristen MacMillan, hit a double to score the team's only run. MacMillan's double pushed home junior Corrine Braynard, who had got things started with a single.

Garfield shortstop Madisson Geddes had three hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

First baseman Shelby Baughman had two hits, two runs and two RBIs for the G-Men, while third baseman Nina Jurvcevic had three RBIs, a run, a single, a double and a stolen base.

On May 13, the Rockets lost an 8-7 County Division clash at Woodridge (7-15, 4-9).

Streetsboro played errorless ball and fought back with a five-run sixth inning to make it close and was led by the team's other senior, Taylor Gaines.

Gaines hit a pair of singles off of winning Bulldog hurler Samantha Schneider. Gaines also scored a run for the Rockets.

Dombrowski hit a double and a pair of singles, scored a run and knocked in a run.

Schneider led Woodridge with a home run, a double, two runs scored and one RBI.

Streetsboro was scheduled to host County Division rival Waterloo May 19 in its season finale. Results were not available at press time.
