Try out for Akron A's

The Akron A's 16-and younger and 17-and-younger tryouts are scheduled to take place July 26 at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Akron A's are a committed to developing college level players.

Both teams will be looking for four to six players to complete their 2015 rosters.

The teams are expected to play in the Ohio Prospects or Diamond League, plus various local tournaments and up to three out-of-town showcase tournaments.

Softball offered

Brownlee Lady Lookouts Softball is offering tryouts Aug. 9 for age 10-and-younger (8:45 a.m. at Mogadore Lion's Park, 194 Hale Ave.), 11-and-younger (11 a.m.), 12-and-younger (11 a.m.), 14-and-younger (1 p.m.) and 16-and-younger (3 p.m.) players.

Pitchers and catchers are required to be ready to go 15 minutes before start time. For details, call Alanna Barker at 740-319-1727.

Play Ball Sports

offers camp

Play Ball Sports Academy is scheduled to host its fourth annual baseball "Competition Camp" during the week of July 28th for ages 7 to 14.

Campers will learn defense, hitting and baserunning skills and will compete over the course of the camp for the title of "Competition King."

Referees needed

The Akron Soccer Referee Association is scheduled to sponsor a new referee clinic Aug. 2 in Cuyahoga Falls.
