Local teams fare well in New Jersey

The Cape May Express More Beach Blast Soccer Tournament concluded July 20 in Wildwood, N.J.

There are two tournaments that take place every summer with more than 1,500 teams registered from all over North America.

It is one of the biggest beach soccer tournaments in the world.

This year, three teams represented Northeast Ohio with most of the players from Streetsboro.

These teams were the age 9-and-10 Hurricanes, the 13-and-younger girls Storm and the 17-and-younger girls Barefoot Pitches.

The Hurricanes lost a 5-4 decision after earning a 3-0 win in their first game. The Storm cruised to 5-0 and 2-0 wins.

The Barefoot Pitches finished 0-0-2 after earning 0-0 and 2-2 draws.

The Hurricanes finished in second place in their division and bracket, while the Storm finished in first place in its division and bracket. The Barefoot Pitches took third in their bracket.
