Streetsboro girls pick up first win

The Streetsboro girls soccer team earned its first victory of the season Aug 23.

The host Rockets posted a convincing 5-0 win over Bedford at Glinatsis Stadium.

Auliah Kendall had two goals and one assist and Alison Targosky finished with two goals.

Faith Deevers also scored for Streetsboro. Amber Glenn added two assists and Tara Crouso had one assist.

The Rockets had a 26-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Streetsboro lost a 7-0 decision to Portage Trail Conference rival Crestwood Aug. 21 in Mantua.

Crestwood had a 25-5 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Rockets goalkeeper Devon Klein made 14 saves in the nets.

Streetsboro was scheduled to visit PTC County Division foe Woodridge Aug. 26 in Peninsula. Results were not available at press time.

The Rockets are set to host County Division rivals Southeast Aug. 28 and James A. Garfield Sept. 2. Both varsity matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Boys settle for draw against Bedford

The host Streetsboro boys soccer team earned a 4-4 draw with Bedford Aug. 23 at Glinatsis Stadium.

Daman Singh had three goals and Abdul Alghamdi scored once for the Rockets.

Streetsboro (0-1-1) tied the game with less than two minutes left when Singh scored after receiving a pass from Ryan Wilkinson on the left side.

"I was thrilled that we found the net more than once," Rockets head coach Paul Krzeminski said. "Scoring has been a weakness of ours over the past few years.

"The fact the we faced adversity and did not fold was huge. This is a testament to the boys and their wanting to grind it out. We have set the table for ourselves going forward now. We just have to continue the course."

Streetsboro lost a 4-0 decision to Portage Trail Conference rival Crestwood in its debut Aug. 21 in Mantua.

The Rockets were scheduled to visit PTC County Division foe Woodridge Aug. 26 in Peninsula. Results were not available at press time.

They are set to entertain County Division rival Southeast Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. and PTC foe Norton Aug. 30 at 1 p.m.

Streetsboro is scheduled to host County Division rival James A. Garfield Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
