Streetsboro's Community Christmas under way

Published:

Community Christmas hopes to make 2012 a memorable holiday season for less fortunate families with children in Streetsboro.

The organization’s goal is to fulfill the holiday wishes of families with children who otherwise might be without gifts this year.

One way local business and organizations can help is to set up a Giving Tree. Decorate the tree with tags stating the age and gender of a child in need of a Christmas, then individuals at the business or organization can take an ornament and provide a gift appropriate for the child, placing it under the tree unwrapped so it can be collected.

After all the gifts are collected, they need to be sorted and matched with deserving children and families, then wrapped. Community Christmas is seeking volunteers to help with this work and the rest of the set up work for the day when families come to St. Joan of Arc’s Fr. Stenson Center and shop for gifts for their families. The setup will take place Dec. 12, and the shopping day will be Dec. 13.

Cash donations also are accepted and are used to purchase gifts for teenagers.
